Hemlock Lake Fishing

Hemlock Lake is located in a wilderness type setting as there is very little development around the lake and it features good fishing for both cold and warm water species. There is a good population of lake trout, rainbow trout, brown trout and landlocked salmon in Hemlock Lake and they can be caught throughout the year. Lake trout, brown trout and landlocked salmon are stocked annually while the rainbow trout naturally reproduce in the waters of the Sprinwater Creek. Soon after ice-out, trout will be found in shallow areas of Hemlock Lake. There is an excellent run of rainbows in Springwater Creek every spring that produces some great catches. In the summer, deep water fishing techniques take trout and salmon through the middle of the lake. Largemouth bass are limited to areas of Hemlock Lake that exhibit significant weed growth. The lower end of the lake has extensive weed beds and accounts for a majority of the largemouth bass taken. You can typically find smallmouth bass along the east and west sides of the lake favoring rocky points and drop-offs. The points on the northwest side of the lake can also be very productive for smallmouths. Hemlock Lake is also known for its large chain pickerel and they can be found around weed beds throughout the lake. The thick weed beds on both ends of the lake are known to produce some big catches. Boats are restricted to a maximum of 17 feet on Hemlock Lake and motors are restricted to 10 hp.
